Rubén Blades: Hay que tener cuidado con reemplazar imaginación por tecnología
«¿Qué hubiese pasado si yo hubiese tenido acceso a todas esas herramientas?» es una de las muchas preguntas que desliza Rubén Blades cuando habla de los nuevos sonidos de la música latina que lideran Bad Bunny o Bizarrap, producidos en buena medida con «samplers» o por ordenador.
«Hasta los Beatles se hubiesen aprovechado de esas herramientas», afirma el poeta panameño de la salsa en una entrevista con EFE con motivo de su próxima participación en el Cook Music Festival de Tenerife (Islas Canarias, Atlántico).
Sin embargo, percibe cierto peligro en que la tecnología acabe reemplazando a la imaginación. «Lo que sí creo es que con cada generación se va perdiendo la capacidad de la imaginación en la medida en que aumenta la capacidad de la tecnología», señala Blades, de 74 años, que llama a tener «cuidado» con este asunto.
De Blades a René
El artista se muestra cauteloso con la nueva generación de músicos latinos y apunta que «cada generación al final es la que va a determinar qué es lo que quiere y cómo se quiere expresar. Y yo en eso no me meto».
En cualquier caso, indica que se sigue haciendo buena música latina con contenido social, como la que realiza «un fuera de serie» como René Pérez, Residente, que en su opinión ha ejercido una gran influencia en Bad Bunny en temas como «El apagón».
«Si Bad Bunny no hubiese sido conocido por sus canciones hedonistas no hubiera podido concienciar a tanta gente que no está envuelta en política con canciones como ‘El apagón'», insiste Blades.
Aún así, opina que «no toda la música tiene que ser de escape» y asegura que sigue habiendo espacio «para el argumento político, solidario y social».
Volver al barrio
Tras más de dos tercios de su vida sobre el escenario, sigue tocando en directo porque «me divierto mucho. No estoy en Panamá a tiempo completo, pero cuando estoy con la banda siento que estoy allí, en el barrio, con mis amigos», y es un reencuentro con el público, «que cada vez es diferente», dice.
«Es un trabajo que me gusta y en el que creo. Si yo no creyera en las letras sería un suplicio tener que decir cosas que no siento y que no considero importantes. Cada audiencia nueva me hace reivindicar, a través de su reacción, que fue una buena decisión terminar siendo músico en vez de abogado», dice Blades, que es graduado en Derecho por la Universidad de Harvard (EEUU).
Y un dardo político: «También es bueno, sabiendo lo corrupta que es la clase política, que haya panameños que trabajen y se ganen su sustento sin necesidad de robárselo al pueblo», defiende.
En Panamá, tiempo para los jóvenes
Blades no se presentará a las elecciones presidenciales panameñas de 2024, pero apoya la opoción de un bloque independiente «interesado en crear una alternativa a la corrupción y mediocridad que existe», al que ayudará con ideas y propuestas.
Lo que más le atrae de un movimiento como «Vamos» es que los líderes políticos como Juan Diego Vázquez y Gabriel Silva son jóvenes que pueden animar a romper la alta abstención para que la corrupción «no gane una y otra vez por el clientelismo».
Respecto a la situación en Latinoamérica, la ve «bien», porque las inestabilidades que experimenta por ejemplo Perú, o las dificultades de la izquierda chilena de Gabriel Boric o de Gustavo Petro en Colombia «forman parte de un proceso», pero lamenta la deriva de Daniel Ortega en Nicaragua, «un tipo al que todos admiramos y que ahora anda quitando nacionalidades a gente que no está de acuerdo con él», o Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela.
En este sentido, percibe que, a nivel mediático, Boric o Petro reciben «todo el arsenal que hay de crítica contra Ortega y contra Maduro», pese a que ellos «no sean producto del sistema ideológico del sistema corrupto partidista y clientelista», sin embargo, son vistos «como enemigos» porque no forman parte de los entornos elitistas.
